How do I create a new E-mail account?
You will be given an @fsu.edu e-mail account (FSU's Java Email Server (JES) when you activate your Florida State University ID (FSUID). Typically your initials and the year you graduate., i.e., yourintials09@fsu.edu. For employees it will be your first initial and last name.
FSUID
You are eligible to create your FSUID account after you are officially accepted to the University or hired by the University and your HR paperwork has been processed. The FSUID account gives you an official FSU e-mail account, access to the FSU Network, Blackboard (http://campus.fsu.edu) for class registration, OMNI (for employees) and much more. How do I create an FSUID?
Visit campus.fsu.edu and click on the link "Activate Your FSUID".

FSUID FAQs
Admin Accounts
Administrative (@admin.fsu.edu) Email accounts are available only for employees with USPS, OPS or A&P status. See the e-mail FAQ on how to request an admin account.
Admin Accounts for Students:
Student workers or Graduate Assistants can receive special student admin accounts.
See our FAQ to find out how to apply.
Generic Email Accounts
We do not create generic e-mail ACCOUNTS, but we can create a generic e-mail ADDRESS and the e-mail to this address can be handled in with a Shared mail folder. Here's how it works.
Here's How it Works
Email Quota
The Email quota is how much space is available on an Email account. When a user's quota is exceeded, all incoming mail for that user is "bounced" back to the sender. You will not receive any more mail until your disk usage is back under your disk usage quota. Be sure to check the 'sent items' folder to free up space. The FSUID Email account (@fsu.edu) quota for active non-OPS employees and graduate students is approximately 1 GB (1024 MB); 250 MB for everyone else. The quota for Admin Email accounts is 100MB.
Why am I still am over Quota after deleting messages.
Large Attachments
The size limit for attachments on the JES (FSUID@fsu.edu) and Admin (Exchange) e-mail servers is approximately 20 MB. Attachments exceeding 20 MB will automatically be removed from any e-mail sent or received on the JES and Admin servers.
Compression format files (such as .rar, .tar.gz, .zip, .gzip, or any other archive file) will be stripped from e-mails if they contain an .exe file or another potentially dangerous file type.
FSU has a drop box utility in lieu of sending attachments: Drop Box.
Length of Time Account Remains Active
You can keep your FSUID Email account for at least 6 months after you leave FSU (if you are no longer a student and no longer an employee and not an FSU Retiree). You will receive an Email approximately two weeks before your account is to be deleted, to let you know of this fact. The only FSU Email address you get to keep with forwarding-for-life is your @fsu.edu address. The @mailer.fsu.edu, @garnet.acns.fsu.edu and @admin.fsu.edu addresses are deleted when the account is deleted. Employees who are retired get to keep their Exchange (Admin) Email inbox unless they request to have it deleted. You can forward your e-mail and folders BEFORE your account is deleted.
