The first time that Vista Mail opens, you will be presented with a account setup wizard. Enter your name and press Next. |

Enter your email address and press Next. |

Set the server type to be IMAP. The incoming server should be imap.fsu.edu
and the outgoing server should be smtp.fsu.edu, (Heritage
Grove residence should use "mailer.apogeetelecom.com" for their Outgoing mail
server) with the authentication
option checked. Press Next. |

Enter your FSUID username. You do not have to enter your password at this point; this setting is optional. Press Next. |

Check the option for "Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time. Press Finish. |

If Vista Mail prompts you to enter your password, press Cancel. |

Additional security settings are required before you will be able to access your mail. Go to Tools, then Accounts. Click on your new mail account to highlight it, then press Properties. |

When the new window opens, go to the Servers tab, then press Settings. |

Choose "Log on using" and enter your FSUID username. You do not have to enter your password at this point; this setting is optional. Press OK. |

Now go to the Advanced tab. Place a checkmark under both the outgoing and incoming servers to turn on SSL. You can use port 25, 465 or 587. They all work the same and all need TLS.

Sometimes 25 is blocked at the Windows Firewall or in Norton or McAfee). Press Apply, then OK. |

Press Close to return to your folder list. To download your messages, press Send/Receive at the top of the window. If you did not enter your password during the setup process, you will be prompted to do so at this point. |
