Using Outlook Express/2000 FOR JES
Setup for Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express are very similar.
The screen shots might differ slightly with different versions
but the information you need to enter is still the same in
the same location.
- Open Outlook 2000 or Outlook Express. (If the setup wizard
opens, the information that you will need to enter will
be displayed within the following text.) If the wizard does
not open, go to Tools and then Accounts (Some versions may
say Internet Accounts).

- From this new pop up window, select Add -> Mail.

- This is going to run through a series of screens. The
first screen asks for your display name. This refers to
how you would like your name to appear in the from line.

- Type in your name and then click next. Next, you will
be asked what type of mail account you would like to set
up. You want to use your own account, or set up an account
manually. The screen might look like this…

- Remember you want to type in your full mailer email address,
then select next. The next screen will look like the following.
If you have the option to choose which type of server you
are using, choose IMAP.

- Your incoming mail server will be imap.fsu.edu or mailer.fsu.edu.
Your outgoing server will be smtp.fsu.edu. Then click "Next"

- On this new screen, your FSUID username should already
appear in the Account name text box. Type in your password
and check the "Remember password" box if you want
your password to be saved on this computer. DO NOT check
"Log on using Secure Password Authenticatation".
Click next. At this point you will be back at the original
screen.
- Select the imap account if it is not highlighted, and
then click on Properties. This will reopen all the information
you just entered. Go to "servers" and then click
"settings":

- Select the Advanced tab. Check "This server requires
a secure connection" for Outgoing and Incoming mail.
The Outgoing port number will change to 25 and the incoming
port number will change to 993.
You can use port 25, 465 or 587. They all work the same and all need TLS. ( Sometimes 25 is blocked at the Windows Firewall or in Norton or McAfee)

- Click OK and then close.
