Eudora 6.x JES for PC Helpdesk - Email Clients (Eudora v5.1 w/ SSL for WIN)

Note: These settings are for IMAP - they are the same for POP but select POP instead of IMAP in step 4.

1) Click on the Tools menu and then click on Options....

2) Make sure you are in the Getting Started category. Fill out your Real Name. For return address, you should use your email address FSUID@fsu.edu.

Where "FSUID" is replaced with your real FSUID. Your FSUID is the username you use to login to OMNI with, and it may not be the same as your username on the ucs.fsu.edu server.

Mail Server (Incoming) is imap.fsu.edu. User Name is your FSUID. SMTP Server (Outgoing) is smtp.fsu.edu. The Allow authentication box should be checked.

3) In the Checking Mail tab, your Mail Server should already be set to imap.fsu.edu. And your User Name should already be set to your FSUID. 'Select Required, Alternate Port' from the Secure Sockets when Receiving drop down box.

4) In the Incoming Mail tab, select IMAP for your Server configuration. The IMAP Mailbox Location Prefix should be left blank.

5) In the Sending Mail tab, your email address should already be set to FSUID@fsu.edu. Your SMTP server should already be set to smtp.fsu.edu.

The Allow authentication box should be checked. Select 'Required, STARTLS' from the Secure Sockets when Sending drop down box.

6) Now click on OK

If you are unable to login the first time, make sure you are using your FSUID password (same password you use for OMNI). If you do not know your FSUID password, you can reset it on the FSUID website.

If you have large amounts of email, it may take from 2 to 4 minutes to completely synchronize your email.

Eudora and FSU Help Desk not longer support this version of Eudora. These instructions are provide as a courtesy by the FSU Technology services help desk. An problem related issues with Eudora v6 or earlier, we recommend users review the email client settings or upgrade to Eudora v7.
