How do Retired Faculty and Staff maintain their account?

  • When an employee retires from FSU, they will automatically keep their FSU email account (mailer and/or Admin).
  • Every two years OTI will email retirees and inquire if they are still using the email account. If they do not respond within 90 days, the account may be deleted.
ADMIN
How do I create a new Admin account? Due to security reasons, all Administrative e-mail accounts must be requested by E-mail or Ticket submission from a Supervisor with an existing Admin Account. Requests from OPS employees cannot be accepted.

Administrative Personnel
  • Administrative email accounts are available only for employees with USPS, OPS or A&P status.
  • All employees must set up their mailer email accounts through http://campus.fsu.edu.
  • Contact the Helpdesk in order to have the account created.
  • The following information must be included (Paperwork MUST be completed fully in OMNI before making a request):
    • FSU Card Number
    • Full Name (First, Last & Middle Initial)
    • Department
    • Phone Number
  • To access your Admin email, you may configure MS Outlook to check your email. You may contact the Helpdesk for assistance or go to (Email Clients) for instructions. You may also access your email from the web https://admin2k.fsu.edu/exchange
Student Admin Accounts
  • Student workers or Graduate Assistants can receive special student admin accounts.
  • Information about the account:
    • No mailbox enabled
    • The supervisor must provide the following student information:
      • FSU Card Number
      • Full Name (First, Last & Middle Initial)
      • Department
      • Phone Number
    • Allows access only to the designated "generic" account mailbox which is determined by the supervisor
    • Automatically expires at the end of the each semester
    • To reactivate the account, a helpdesk request for a renewal must be made by the supervisor at the beginning of each semester
  • To access the Admin email, the student can configure MS Outlook to check the email of the account for which the student has access. You may contact the Helpdesk for assistance or go to (Email Clients) for instructions.
  • To access email from the web, type in https://admin2k.fsu.edu/exchange/genericAccountUsername, where genericAccountusername is the username of the generic account in question
  • For username and password, use the provided student account username and password (not the username of the account that you are trying to open)

Example scenario:
Your name is Doak Campbell, a student at FSU. Your supervisor called and requested a student account for you that will give you access to check the mailbox for the account called somegeneric. Once s/he provided all of the necessary information, the account was created to allow dcampbell access to somegeneric mailbox and to expire at the end of the semester. Now that you are all set, you are trying to access the following web site to access the mailbox for the generic account called somegeneric: https://admin2k.fsu.edu/exchange/somegeneric
OK NOT OK
username: dcampbell username: somegeneric
password: ******** password: ********

Generic Admin Accounts
  • Requests granted only to users with Admin accounts who are supervisors
  • Usernames are served on a availability basis (first-come-first-serve)
  • Mailbox size is limited to 50MB
  • Must provide an account associated with maintaining this generic account (secretary, student, etc.)
    • If the associated account does not exist, please follow the step above on how to create and admin account.
  • To access the Admin email, the associated account can configure MS Outlook to check the email of the account for which the he/she has access. You may contact the Helpdesk for assistance or go to (Email Clients) for instructions.

To access email from the web, type in https://admin2k.fsu.edu/exchange/genericAccountUsername, where genericAccountusername is the username of the account in question
