Florida State University President T.K. Wetherell has recently asked FSU Administrators to take aggressive steps to stabilize its budget in the face of reduced funding from the State of Florida.

As a result, the Office of Technology Integration (OTI) has carefully evaluated the costs to support FSU's Modem Pooling (Dialup) Services. This technology has become outmoded due to the explosion of web sites with more elaborate content. The operational facilities required to provide this service are still expensive in light of the relatively few customers who still take advantage of its use.

Consequently, as of August 1, no new account requests for dialup will be accepted. Pre-existing accounts will remain active through August 31 to allow time to select another provider.
